about

The House Arrest Tapes Remastered
My first album as SWIM (though it was still technically Baxter) which was recorded during 5 months of house arrest in 2014 on a shitty desktop that ran Windows XP and the only DAW I had on it (it didn't have internet access) was Propellerehead's Reason 5. That could account for the slightly unique sound here, in terms of synth voicings and song structure. Regardless, these songs mean a lot to me and it's been nice to give them more breathing room and dynamics in the production. Also included are two unreleased songs of mine from around this time, a sort of sketch of a song that would've just ended up being a DIIV rip-off, and a cover of "Holy Flowers", originally by Negative Gender, the old solo project of personal good friend and former Spandrels leader Casey Noonan.
